Police Chief Chip Peterson began his career with the Rising Sun Police Department in September of 2007 as a uniformed Patrol Officer.  He has also served as the department's mid-level supervisor (Sergeant).  Under Chief Peterson's direction, the agency has grown from three full time officers to seven officers and two civilian support personnel.

Chip comes to Rising Sun after a 22 year career with the Maryland State Police.  During his tenure with the Maryland State Police, Chip gained experiences as a patrol officer, detective, community policing / problem solver, public information officer, program coordinator and team leader.
